Dragon Baptism
Dragonlings are traditionally baptized at age 3, though any Dragon of any age can chose to be baptized; if not already, Dragons anointed as Guardians are also baptized. The light magic of the baptism lifts osteodermic patterns from the scales, known as baptismal markings. These are a permanent part of the individual Dragon. Interestingly, every Dragon already has unique markings: the magic only shows clearly what is already there. Baptisms were very popular during the time of Malefor's stay in Warfang, but the tradition became relatively obscure during the wars following his banishment, and had remained that way for millennia. Malefor later used this magical blessing as the basis of his Spell of Possession, later used by Gaul to corrupt young Cynder. During the age of Spyro, it was mostly only Guardians who were baptized, as the blessing was often forgotten.
Words
Dóminus Deus omnípotens, qui vitam terrénam largítur et caeléstem, gratias tibi ago.
Benedícat vos infantis omnípotens Deus.
Parue, liber ibis; sine me; vade cum Deus vult. Felix habitum temporis huius habe. Benedic Dómino, et noli oblívisci omnes retributiones Eius. Adnuntiate in uníversis populis mirabilia Eius, narra quanta tibi fecit Deus, ópera Domini, qui posuit prodígia super terram.
Vade, cornua tuus in capite gerens. Te notetur purpureo Dei fuco: est conueniens ille cólor. Haec signa tecum habebis, sine fine, quae semper causa satis sufficiénte fideli.
