Electricus ~ Electricity

Lightning and the signals that flow through nerves

~Ancient Elemental Poem on the Elements in Nature

Overview

Electricity, also known as Electricus, or Lightning (also spelled Light'ning or Lightening), is one of the nine elements which make up Spyro’s world. It is an element used by Dragons and other creatures, such as Knifefish. Lightning-bugs are an important bioindicator species. The color used to represent Electricity is a golden yellow, or else yellow, or orange. Joy and wisdom are the qualities associated with this element. Electricity is used to power many different devices, to the point where most of the Skylander population refers to the element as "Tech". Electricity is at its apogee during the Season of Lightning. The Dark form of Electricity is sometimes called Dead Bolt, because instead of bringing electrical objects to life, it breaks them; another term—though rarely used—is Blackcurrent, for it gives no light. Electricity's complementing opposite is Shadow.

Interplay With the Other Elements

The element of Electricity is strong against Ice, Shadow, and all Life creations, but weak against all forms of Fear and Earth. It is on roughly equal terms against both Wind and Fire, as well as against non-living forms of Alchemy.

Terminology

  • Electrokinesis—external manipulation of Electricity.

  • Electrogenesis—the creation of Electricity from within; the ability to make Electricity.

  • Electrogenetic—referring to the ability to create Electricity.

  • Fulgurevomous—Lightning-spewing; the quality of being able to throw out Lightning.
