Cyril was taken captive during the War by Cynder, who drained some of his life force into an energy crystal in an attempt to open the Convexus Portal and release Malefor. Cyril's friend and fellow Dragon Guardian Ignitus saw a vision of where Cyril was being held prisoner, and sent Spyro and Sparx to Tall Plains to release Cyril. After Cynder's return to the Swamp Temple, Cyril was very vocal against her staying there, but finally relented after Volteer rambled off long lists of pros and cons.
