Locations

The following location words are not necessarily specific places, because they refer to a quality of the land (altitude, climate, etc.).

• Skyhighlands - high areas of land, floating above the planet, and in medium-to-high atmospheric altitude

• Skylands - areas of land, floating above the planet, and in low-to-medium atmospheric altitude

• Highlands - high altitude areas of land, connected to the planet, and above sea-level

• Lowlands - low altitude areas of land, connected to the planet, and near sea-level

• Underground - areas of land which lie below the surface, within the crust of the planet, and possibly below sea-level

• Underworld - areas below the surface of the planet, and below sea-level

• Mountains - taller than hills

• Hills - lower than mountains, possibly taller than plains

• Plains - flat earth, various altitude

  • Savannah - a tropical plain with few trees

  • Tundra - a permafrost plain with few trees

• Valley - a low area between mountains or hills

• Marsh / Swamp - a lowland which experiences flooding and is often wet

  • Fen - a swamp with soil of a neutral or basic pH

  • Bog - a swamp with soil of an acidic pH

• Forest - an area with many trees

  • Canopy - the tops of the trees

  • Forest Floor - the ground of the forest
