Alchemy
Chemicals and the medicines found in plants
~Ancient Elemental Poem on the Elements in Nature
Overview
Alchemy, also known as Alchimia, or Poison*(see note below), is one of the nine elements which make up Spyro’s world. It is an element used by plants, Dragons, and other creatures, such as Wasps and various other invertebrates. An important bioindicator species is the Poison-ivy plant. The color used to represent Alchemy is chartreuse, or else green, or yellow. Healing and forgiveness are the qualities associated with this element. As with Shadow and Fear, Alchemy is misunderstood element, and because it is rare to wield naturally—but its Dark form a common element to obtain by corruption—its users are often pre-judged. Alchemy is at its apogee during the Season of Alchemy. The Alchemy element helps heal those who view its wielder as allies, but to so-called enemies, damage is taken, in-stead. Some of the Skylander population refers to Alchemy as "Life", because of its healing properties. The Dark form of Alchemy is called Poison, for it not only is incapable of healing allies, but prolonged use of it will slowly kill the wielder, as well. Alchemy's complementing opposite is Fear.
*Light Alchemy is sometimes erroneously also called Poison.
Also see Earth for an other use of the word Life for the name of an element.
Interplay With the Other Elements
The Life element is strongest against Water. The grass, flowers, and plants that are part of Life suck Water through their roots to give them strength, which is great for them, but not too handy for Water.
~Book of Elements - Fire and Water, page 76
The element of Alchemy is strong against Earth and Electricity (including all Tech creations), as well as liquid forms of Ice, and non-living sources of Alchemy are strong against Fear. However, all Life creations are weak against all forms of Fear, and all forms of Alchemy are weak against solid forms of Ice. It is on roughly equal terms against Fire, Shadow, and Wind.
